From February 12, 2020, to February 14, 2020, Agrobiotest d.o.o. participated in and successfully completed a theoretical and practical course on dendro-surgery and palm management in Spain. The education was organized by +Vertical in the city of Elche (theoretical and practical part) and Denia (practical part). The course was led by Jose Javier Siguneza Murcia (an expert in arboriculture and palm maintenance) and Angel Sastre Pons (a European expert in arboriculture).

The theoretical part covered basic knowledge of the physiology of palm growth and development, biomechanics, and phyllotaxis (mechanical stability of the tree, proper leaf growth), as well as the recognition of various physiological disorders in palms (nutrient deficiencies, poor growth conditions) and the identification and control of various pests (red palm weevil, palm borer) and other pathogens (various fungal diseases).

The practical part included climbing techniques, safe work at height, as well as all legal regulations and safety equipment that make working at height as safe as possible. Proper maintenance and dendro-surgery, along with the correct use of the traditional cutting and maintenance tool “Corbillote,” were the final components of our two-day training.
